Shard London Bridge taken from inside the grounds of the Tower of London
In London at Easter with Alison, Andrew and the girls, visiting the Tower of London. In the grounds of the tower looking out over the Thames, there was a great view of this fantastic new building. Designed by Renzo Piano, the structure reminds me of another building which I have always loved, the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco. The skyscraper designed by William Pereira, evokes fantastic memories of watching films and American TV as a child. For me it meant glamour and adventure and added to my obsession with all things state side. The Shard opens in June and I will be first in the queue!
my dad manages building sites and he is currently working on this building! he is on the 69th-71st floor and he said that if you go up a couple more floors there are no windows and only a tiny railing to stop you falling out!
